Comenius in a Gozitan Primary School: Reflections on practice and participation
ABSTRACT of Thesis by
Cassar Micheline & Vella Alison

This Gozitan Primary School has been participating within the Comenius School Projects since 2001. This dissertation consists of a critical and an in-depth study regarding the effects of participation and practice in the Comenius School Projects of the whole school’s community at the Gozitan Primary School, which is referred to as Sant’Antnin Primary School throughout the dissertation.

The study includes an interview carried out with the Head of School, that gives a detailed overview of the school’s participation within Comenius. Other qualitative data has been collected through word-based questionnaires, filled in by the teachers, interviews carried out with the projects co-ordinating teachers, interviews carried out with a number of pupils, and interviews carried out with a number of parents.

The study has eventually enabled the researchers to identify the pros and cons of this Gozitan school’s participation in Comenius, whether the agreed targets of Comenius have been reached within this school, and what effects it is leaving.
