ABSTRACT of Thesis by
Attard Goline & Grech Stephanie

This study highlights the perceptions of secondary school students towards Social Studies. More importantly, this study explores how much Social Studies is useful in students’ everyday life and traces the differences between males and females regarding Social Studies as an academic subject. The target of this research are secondary state school students in the 11 – 15 age cohort. Investigation has been made possible by utilising structured questionnaires with 240 Gozitan students in the junior lyceum. The aim of this survey is to find out whether there is a relationship between females and males in their attitudes towards Social Studies and its utility to everyday life. This is followed by an analysis of the research results, which are intertwined with a discussion on the survey findings.
