Celebrating Lifelong Learning - FES Family Festival 2005

 

The Foundation for Educational Services (FES) is once again organising a Family Festival, this year at St James Cavalier Centre for Creativity in Valletta on Saturday 16 July between 0900 hrs and 12 noon. This year’s focus is on lifelong learning and includes information stands from each of the community-based lifelong learning centres managed by the Foundation through part-financing from the EU stuctural funds for Malta 2004-2006/ European Social Fund.

The Festival is intended to inform the general public about the lifelong learning opportunities that FES offers to parents and their children. Families who have actively participated in a range of learning opportunities throughout the 2004-2005 scholastic year will have the opportunity to explain to visitors their learning gains through participation in courses offered by the Community Lifelong Learning Centres, Hilti Clubs, the Parents-in-Education Programme and its range of courses co-led by parents, the Nwar Service and the Malta Writing Programme.

This year’s innovation will be a display on the Project Community-based Lifelong Learning Centres. The project is being implemented in partnership with state schools and Local Councils There are currently 7 localities that are benefiting from courses for adults.

Centre Organisers from these localities will be showing what they have so far managed to do and distribute information about their future plans intended to reach others and attract the interest of both individuals and entities from the respective localities.

The second half of the festival programme includes a discussion on ‘New competencies are essential for better living’ led by a panel of persons involved in the organisation of lifelong learning opportuinities with the collaboration of participants of ESF Project courses. As the learning sessions and courses are being offered according to the stated needs of community members, the sharing of their experience, the skills they are acquiring and benefits derived from such participation should prove to be interesting for all stakeholders and encouraging for others to join these initiatives.

Ghal darb’ohra il-Fondazzjoni ghal Servizzi Edukattivi (FES) se torganizza Festival ghall-Familji. Din is-sena se jittella’ fic-Centru ghall-kreattivita’ fil-Kavallier ta’ San Gakbu fil-Belt, nhar is-16 ta’ Lulju bejn id-9.00 u nofsinhar. It-tema principali se tkun it-taghlim matul il-hajja u se jkun hemm stands b’taghrif dwar ic-Centri ta’ taghlim ghal matul il-hajja li l-FES qed tmexxi f’hames komunitajiet differenti. Dan il-progett huwa parzjalment finanzjat mill-fondi strutturali ta’ l-UE ghal Malta 2004-2006 permezz tal-Fond Socjali Ewropew.

Il-Festival huwa mahsub biex jgharraf lill-pubbliku in generali dwar l-opportunitajiet ta’ taghlim matul il-hajja li l-FES qed toffri lill-genituri u t-tfal taghhom. Familji li hadu sehem f’firxa wiesgha ta’ opportunitajiet ta’ taghlim matul is-sena akkademika 2004-2005 se jkollhom ic-cans li jkellmu lill-vizitaturi dwar il-kisbiet li ghamlu bis-sehem taghhom f’korsijiet offruti mic-Centri ta’ taghlim matul il-hajja, il-Klabb Hilti, il-firxa ta’ korsijiet organizzati fi hdan il-Programm Id f’Id flimkien mal-genituri nfushom, is-servizz Nwar, kif ukoll il-Malta Writing Programme.

Ghall-ewwel darba din is-sena se tittella’ wirja dwar il-Progett tac-Centri Komunitarji ta’ Taghlim matul il-hajja. Dan il-progett qed jitwettaq bi shab ma’ skejjel statali u kunsilli lokali. S’issa hemm seba’ lokalitajiet li qed igawdu minn korsijiet ghall-adulti.

L-organizzaturi ta’ whud minn dawn ic-centri se juru lill-pubbliku dak li twettaq s’issa fil-lokalitajiet differenti fejn qed jahdmu. Se jqassmu wkoll taghrif dwar il-hsibijiet taghhom ghall-gejjieni dwar kif se jilhqu nies ohrajn u kif se jsiehbu fil-progetti taghhom kemm individwi kif ukoll ghaqdiet mil-lokalitajiet li qed jahdmu fihom.

It-tieni nofs tal-Festival se jinkludi diskussjoni fuq it-tema: Hiliet godda huma mehtiega ghal hajja ahjar. Id-diskussjoni se titmexxa minn panel ta’ persuni involuti fl-organizzazzjoni ta’ opportunitajiet ta’ taghlim matul il-hajja. Jiehdu sehem ukoll nies li hadu sehem f’korsijiet tal-progett iffinanzjat mill-Fond Socjali Ewropew. It-taghlim u t-tahrig li qed jinghata permezz ta’ dawn il-korsijiet qed jitfassal fuq il-htigijiet li l-komunita’ stess qed tindika. Ghaldaqstant, il-qsim ta’ esperjenzi dwar il-hiliet u l-beneficcji li qed jiksbu l-partecipanti f’dawn il-korsijiet ghandhom ikunu ta’ interess ghal kull min hu involut f’dan il-qasam. Ghandu jservi wkoll biex iheggeg nies ohrajn biex jinghaqdu f’dawn l-inizjattivi.
