Floriana Primary school is one of the oldest schools in Malta and is situated in the centre of the town right behind the Parish Church dedicated to St. Publius. The first admission register shows that the school started admitting pupils as far back as 1893. The school has been named after the first President of the Malta Union of Teacher (Antonio Galea) and this is rightly so as the first meeting of the MUT was in fact held at this school on the 22nd November 1919.

Pupils also attend plays organised by the Drama Unit of the Education Division at St.Vincent de Paule and at the Drama Centre at Blata l-Bajda. It is however worth mentioning that All school pupils are encouraged to take part in music and drama activities organized by the school on the occasion of The Christmas Concert for all parents and on Prize Day.

All pupils are expected to take part in project works organized by each class. Various themes are chosen for these projects, especially themes connected with the environment.

It is important to note that the school has a very active School Council. The Council does its best to raise funds which are then used for the benefit of the pupils. It has bought hundreds of books for the Main School Library and has also organized a corner library in each class. Every year the Council organizes a free of charge " Healthy Breakfast " session in order to teach pupils about healthy food.
