PRESIDENT - Mr Karl Xuereb
AIESEC in Malta...
Who... 400 student members, over 40 partnering organisations, over 2000 alumni
What... an international student run organisation
Where... in 85 countries and territories
Why should you be interested? We Drive People Towards Proactivity

How? Read below!

Innovative, proactive, cultural, young, dynamic are all words you could use to describe AIESEC. Set up in 1948, AIESEC has been a platform for the development of youth all around the world. Through its international exchange programmes, students are given the opportunity to work in any one of the 85 member countries, gaining what is undoubtedly, a life changing experience.

By just being AIESEC members, students learn how to turn theory into practice. AIESEC can be considered the practical side of one's university life? hands on learning; leadership skills, sales techniques, marketing calls, time management, presentation skills, creative thinking and much much more, AIESEC is undoubtedly helping students gain the practical skills which they will need in their future places of work.

Yet, AIESEC does not just stop within the boundaries of the Maltese Islands. Boasting proudly its 85-country network, the boundaries are endless. The average active AIESEC member corresponds with persons from all over the globe regularly. AIESEC conferences enable members to work for days with their counterparts in other countries, sharing realities, discussing issues and collaborating to move the organisation forward. AIESEC members not only have a powerful network close at hand but are also aware of the diversity and vastness that exists beyond our shores.

AIESEC also has a number of members that take a step beyond what is written above. Members conclude their learning process by spending a period working in a foreign country, with foreign people, expanding their horizons and going through invaluable experiences.

We train and develop future leaders TODAY! The aim is to ensure that today's students take a more active role and have the opportunity to develop positively. AIESEC offers valuable training and experiences by which students develop into future leaders today.

Over 200 new recruits have joined us this year - what about you???

PRESIDENT - Mr Fabrizio Ellul
The History of Art Students Association (HoASA) is a Senate recognised organisation, at the University of Malta, which was set up by a group of History of Art Students in December 2000.
HoASA aims at:
- increasing awareness of artistic heritage, with special emphasis on the Maltese one;
- acting as a voice for the History of Art student;
- promoting history of art as a discipline;
- creating both an academic and social forum among students and ex- students;
- creating greater opportunities on a university, local, national and international level;
- creating contacts with other university, local, national, international associations/ organisations which foster our same principles.

Some past activities have been a student art exhibition entitled Looking Ahead, visits to local contemporary artists, a seminar organised conjointly with MKSU and The Anthropology Society, the creation of a Newsletter, the setting up of a library and the organisation of a number of social activities. A detailed report was prepared outlining the problems being encountered by students and suggesting solutions. Art-related activities were promoted and a web community which may be very easily accessed was set up.

HOASA is open to all University Students as ordinary members as well as the general public as associate members. This is because the association believes that greater discussion may be engendered with people from different walks of life. The only necessary qualification to join is a sincere interest in art.

(The International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience)
The National Secretary is Ms Graziella Galea.

IAESTE is a dynamic international non-governmental organisation that coordinates the exchange of university students for work experience across a broad network of over 80 countries. Jobs are available for a period ranging from 6 weeks to one year in duration. About 10000 traineeship opportunities are exchanged yearly worldwide, mostly offering a technical work experience, but always directly related to the student's area of study. IAESTE Malta prides itself in offering the largest technical student exchange programme in Malta with around 70 students benefiting from this opportunity during the summer of 2005, the job experiences normally available to students from the University of Malta are in Germany, UK, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, France, Brazil, Slovenia, Hungary and Greece with prestigious companies such as IBM, Novartis, Philips, Siemens, British Telecom, BBC, Bosch and Ericsson.

IAESTE Malta believes that a full university life is not one restricted to lecture theatres. The organisation offers plenty of opportunities for participation in a broad range of activities and events, which together with the academic aspect, help bring out the best in the student. IAESTE also believes in the importance of exposure to the world of cultures and to a world without frontiers. Apart from the exchange programme, active members have plenty of opportunity in participating in many international conferences and seminars all year round. Activities on and off campus are also quite common. While enjoying a work-experience abroad, a student acquires practical skills, putting into practice what s/he has learnt in class. Exchange is offered on a one to one basis, a traineeship abroad being offered to a Maltese student for each job offered by a Maltese company to a foreign student.

Moviment Graffiti is a movement which highlights issues through direct action. This movement is active against all kinds of oppression and exploitation of people, the environment and animals, with a vision of freedom and radical democracy.

Moviment Graffiti's actions are very often in the media (local/international), amongst which there are recent activities like the ''Save Kalkara Valley" campaign to raise awareness about its destruction by the proposed mega-project, or the ëNo to Warships' campaign. The organisation always seeks stronger alliances with other organisations. International campaigns vary: Moviment Graffiti was present in Genoa 2001 during the G8 meeting to put forward its counter proposal, 'Globalisation of rights as opposed to a globalisation of oppression and poverty for the many and huge riches for the few." Amongst other activities and political alliances. Moviment Graffiti forms part of the Anti-Golf Course Front, while before it participated in the Front Against the Hilton.

Other actions by this movement are its annual participation in the World Anti-McDonalds Day. This is a global action, which represents the fight against multinationals and capitalism. Moviment Graffiti is determined to keep on fighting the economic globalisation imposed by the World Trade Organisation.

Moviment Graffitti practices radical democracy where every member has an equal voice and power.

By means of several activities throughout the year, MKSU (Moviment Kattoliku Studenti Universitarji), founded in 1929, promotes Christian Values on Campus and takes initiatives in social commitment. This we do through reaching out and accepting everyone, no matter what that person’s colour, creed, gender, race or belief is.
To sum things up, it means that whilst having fun and enjoying life together we respond to the Lord’s call to be "salt of the earth and light of the world", to be a sign of tolernace love and hope on Campus and elsewhere.

Locally we are represented at University, in the the students’ Commission for Social Policy (KPS) and the Chapliancy team, as well as nationally on the Youth National Council (KNZ) and the Church’s forum for Lay Persons. At and international level we are a full member of the European Co-oridnation of Students’ Catholic Movement, where we have many opportunities to meet other foreign students though international seminars, conferences and exchanges.
