Re: Public Consultation European Qualifications Framework
Following the European Commission’s request at the informal ministerial
meeting in London in July 2005 for support in the development of a European
Qualifications Framework (EQF), the Ministry of Education, Youth and
Employment is being invited to organise a national consultation on the
EQF.
The objective of the planned EQF is to create a European framework
which will enable qualifications systems at the national and sectoral
levels to relate to each other. This reference structure will be used
on a voluntary basis and will facilitate the transfer and recognition
of qualifications held by individual citizens.
The Minister of Education Youth and Employment is kindly inviting
those experts and stakeholders most directly concerned by the development
and implementation of the EQF at the European, national and sectoral
levels to give their views on what the aims, structure, and content
of the EQF should be. It is important that all relevant bodies and
institutions with a direct interest in lifelong learning – education,
employment, youth, economic - are invited to participate and that they
in turn consult all relevant sectors of employment and education.
A Consultation Conference is being scheduled for 18th November,
2005.
In preparation for this conference I am attaching the EQF
consultation document and a questionnaire
template. I would be grateful to receive your feedback by Friday
11th November 2005. This will inform the final content of
Malta’s position on the EQF proposal. Kindly address your response
to the Permanent Secretary’s Office , Ministry of education
Youth and Employment. tanya.zammit@gov.mt
